Re: how well does your sporter shoot at long range?
I have used AA8700 with all bullet weights, works very well, a bit dirty burning but good results if you clean carbon fouling every 25 shots or so. Pretty temp change sensitive so if you load to full tilt loads you can get into some issues, I seldom do so its not a huge factor.
Also tested Retumbo and it works very well also but seems better suited to the 130 to 150 gr bullet weights, for the big 169.5 gr ULD RBBTs, the slower ball powders have performanced better. IF you want to rip a 130 gr Ballistic Tip out at +3800 fps, Retumbo is hard to beat!!
I do not like the IMR powders in my AMs. Mainly because of the very long powder stick length, just asking for problems with powder bridging. Would probably not be a factor in the 270 AM but with the number of powders we have out there, why bother??
