Have you tried any A8700,IMR 7828, or H1000 in the 270 AM?

Sniper2,

I have used AA8700 with all bullet weights, works very well, a bit dirty burning but good results if you clean carbon fouling every 25 shots or so. Pretty temp change sensitive so if you load to full tilt loads you can get into some issues, I seldom do so its not a huge factor.

Also tested Retumbo and it works very well also but seems better suited to the 130 to 150 gr bullet weights, for the big 169.5 gr ULD RBBTs, the slower ball powders have performanced better. IF you want to rip a 130 gr Ballistic Tip out at +3800 fps, Retumbo is hard to beat!!

I do not like the IMR powders in my AMs. Mainly because of the very long powder stick length, just asking for problems with powder bridging. Would probably not be a factor in the 270 AM but with the number of powders we have out there, why bother??

The first picture are the last 10 bullets fired when breaking-in my 300 RSAUM, 165 gr Remington Core-Lokt factory at 3265 fps. The second picture is a 3 shot group at 535 yards with the same rifle, 53.5 gr Varget under 175 gr SMK at 2975 fps.
