How does twist rate effect bullets?

Alright can anyone explain to me how twist rate works and how a certain twist rate plays a role in what weight bullet it to use? I know that it spins the bullet to stabilize it but not sure how to determine what is right for me. And what the best twist for a .300win mag would be and shooting grain round for that? whitetail to moose sized animals, out to 600yds for now but hoping to stretch that out slowly.

Certain twist rates are required to stabilize certain bullets at normal velocities. Higher or lower
velocities than normal will have an effect on the twist and could change it.

under the FAQ section and there is lots of information on the selection of twist rates.
