im starting out, getting tired of outs hooting my Browning Longtrac .270 and removing the caps to adjust elevation so i sold it to get "the set up" with a $1000 budget, and the Remington vs Savage debate, Remington SPS Tac. has won me.but optics are still in question,so i need advice, looking at around $300 for scope(no fixed power).
Like the others said, just leave the caps in the truck. Look at the Nikon BuckMaster. I have the 6-18 with target dot mounted on my .300WinMag and it is precise to at least 650yds. I have not shot it any farther, yet. Midway frequently has them on sale.
If you get the Nikon, they come with two sets of knobs. One set fits nicely under the screw on caps, the other set is bigger and does not. They even provide the allen wrench! JohnnyK.

I also almost went with the Nikon but I got to looking and with the 1/8th click you have like 5MOA per rev I think, the WOTAC has 15 MOA in one spin, 30mm tube with 50mm Obj for just over 300 bones with dead accurate tracking. The WOtac is MOA/MOA or MILL/MOA.
