6.5mm on an AR base plateform

I'm planning on having a gunsmith build me a 6.5 upper for my AR-15
does anyone have any does or don't
The one I have now is a 223 cal and it really shoots nice

objective??

It would help if you give background on what you want to accomplish. The Gendel is a good 6.5 round but not for shooting elk at 1K. What AR platform..... flattop? long heavy barrel? More info always gets more response.

for longer range I think that the 6mm would be a better bet as the little 223 case realy doesn't have the capacity to run the 140 class bullet out to fast especialy out of a gas gun. But if your shooting the lighter 100gr bullets then it would probably work very well.

I have two AR that are 6-223 one is a 14" and the other is a 20" and both shoot very well , I'm actluat probably gonna cut the 14" barrel back to 12" and make a good suppressor for it and have it as a CQB rifle , i can get more speed from a 55gr Ballistic tip in 12" barrel from a 6-223 than a 223 can get for a 20"

What about Mule Deer? Supposedly, it stays supersonic out to about 1400 yards, I would expect that to do pretty well on medium sized game. If I'm wrong, please enlighten.

That is my intent is to go with the 6.5 grendel with a medium weight barrel 24" in lenght. just for deer and coyotes or other varmits. maybe play with paper targets out to about 1,000 yards. but i don't hear a lot about this caliber on this site?
