I am playing with the idea of doing a 8mm-300rum,the 8mm is a sometimes over looked elk round,I was wondering if you or someone you may have hear of has ever tried this cal.I think it would be the thing for elk,if anyone can share the pro's and con's on this one this it would be great I'm going to call it the 325 Wapiti.Will this cal work?

A friend had one made, just necked up the 300 RUM case. Went with a min. chamber reamer, 28 inch barrel. I load the 220 Sierra game king with either RE 25 or Retumbo. We get around 2900 for speed and great accuracy with this combo. He just hasn't had an Elk show up to use it on. Sure does dump deer and yotes though. Just got lucky this bullet shoots as good as it does because their is not many other choices. Dave
Barnes 180TSX will be my first one I try you can go down to 125 with Hornady,Nosler is my favorites,don't know if I will do it,the Elk here are VERY hard to find and it's a little much for the whitetail,but I like off the wall stuff,
