sounds good! thanks for all of the insight on the 300 WSM and other rifles. I'll do some number crunching. I suppose just working up the right load for the rifle is the key!

    Call Richie at htcustoms.com he built my .340wby an many like it under 6lbs.. Shot 1/2moa. Wonderful rifle.

    WOW! 300 RUM weighing 6 lbs, I don't know who would get the worst end of the stick... the bear or the shooter! I know it would be a handful though!

    All joking aside, I would think that the 300 WM would be a better choice though. Good luck on your upcoming hunt, BK

    Perhaps you should check out red hawk rifles out of CO. If you go to Gunbroker and type in "700 ti" in the search field I thing you will find some interesting rifles that are VERY light weight and also have targets to show how well they shoot.

    You are welcome. Good luck on the hunt for your rifle. I bought one of the red hawk rifles and it shoots in the 3's for under 1500 bucks. I noticed they had several 300 RUMs ready to go.
