vintage 1,000y hunting rifle and Unertl scope for sale
one of the original "1,000y hunting rifles" built by Tom Drummond of Williamsport, PA. Chambered in 7mm-.300Wby, and very low round count. Built in '75, and original owner passed away in '76. Rifle/scope unused since then.
Sako L61R w/30" SS Douglas bbl (1:9" twist) and custom thumbhole walnut/maple stock. Posa tapered mount with Unertl 'Vulture' in 10x. External adjustments (not dehorned) and recoil spring and adjustable objective.
A really neat vintage rig. Also have a vintage set of RCBS dies for it, and 100 unfired Norma cases in .300 Wby. Too many projects, not enough time.
$1,325 shipped for the works, including a couple of vintage Gun Digest type volumes that have articles about these rifles and the Williamsport-area men who built them.
If you've read 'Unintended Consequences' by John Ross (an incredible book), then you might recall "Uncle Max". This rifle belonged to the man (John's real uncle) on whom the Uncle Max character was based...
