I have a Remington 597 22LR that I just put together Friday night. The rifle has a new Tasco 3-9X40mm Scope and new Leupold rings. I just opened the box on the 22 Friday and I removed the steel open sights, filled the holes w/ Remington filler screws, throughly cleaned the rifle, and mounted the scope.
I bought a box of CCI minimags and took this rifle to the camp Saturday just for alittle fun. I zeroed the scope at 27 yards and at 30 yards you can plink pennies all day. The gun functions flawlessly, much better than the 2 Marlin Model 60s I've had for many years.
I already have 4 22s collecting dust as we speak and I sure don't need another one to baby sit them.
This would make a great rifle for a youngster or adult for plinking or small game hunting.
