FS: Mauser 98 (FN) varmint rifle in .250 Donaldson Ace

For sale: 250 Donaldson Ace bench/varmint rifle built on a commercial mauser 98 action (FN). Rifle has been converted from a repeater to a single shot by a gunsmith for original owner. Bolt has extractor, but no ejector (to keep from losing and dinging up brass). Bolt shroud has safety cut but no safety. Rifle has a double set trigger, the set trigger is probably about 0.5-1oz. The receiver is drilled and tapped for a base. The wooden stock has also been converted from a repeater to a single shot. The barrel length is 26", and manufactured by L.R. Wallack (Mayfield, NY). Barrel is in great shape. Seating and sizing die included.

$20 for shipping. I will accept personal check, money order, or paypal (plus 2.9%).

I haven't even shot the rifle, if I shoot it, I'll probably end up keeping it.

Feel free to contact me with questions.

Thanks for looking.

The 250 Donaldson Ace sounds neat! What Price? Can you tell me what is the parent case. Are special case forming dies necessary?

Thanks,
silverine

I can't believe I forgot to list the price...

I'd like to get $420 shipped, so $400 for the rifle...

The 250 Donaldson Ace's parent cartridge is the 250 Savage, the shoulder is pushed back slightly and the body taper is decreased. I'm not sure if a special case forming die is absolutely required though, if it was it definitely would only be one form die...

Re: FS: Mauser 98 (FN) varmint rifle in .250 Donaldson Ace

I picked up the rifle at my FFL today. It is nicer than the pics show it to be. I tore it down for a good cleaning to find that there was nothing to clean. I was even hard pressed to get a slight hue of blue using copper solvent in the bore. What a great, super nice, and spotless rifle. I stuck a 6-24x target scope on it. I will be working loads today and hopefully making a trip to the range this evening. The data with the dies has a ton of shooting history attached. Someone at some time sure did some travel along the east coast with the rifle to attend shoots. Thanks again for a great deal on a great rifle!
