Tranquilizers.... lots of tranquilizers!

Actually, when traveling with small children and noisy adults, cold medication works pretty well, they'll sleep most of the way.

Bear Hunt in Alberta

I got a call a few days ago from a fella I know in Alberta. He has a few Spring Bear hunts left and offered to give me a free hunt if I could book another hunter at full price.

I immediately called a lifelong friend of mine up in Wisconsin and offered him the hunt with me paying half and he would pay the other half. We'd both going on on a half price bear hunt... He said his year was booked and he has no extra vacation time so it's a no-go for him.

The hunt is for 2 Black bears and essentially everything is covered except the trip up and back but I'll confirm that.

This will probably not be a long range hunt, it'll more than likely be over bait. If it's anything like my last black bear hunt it's a very easy hunt, sleep late and be on stand from 4PM until 11PM or so.

The deal is that I MUST BE ONE OF THE HUNTERS and one other person can go. The hunt for the pair of us is $2,500 +- (tip extra of course) I'll confirm price. I will drive my truck from Washington, DC to Alberta (45 hours of driving time). If whomever goes is along the way I can pick them up and we'll split fuel costs.

I'm a fairly easy to get along with person but I do have a low PITA (Pain In The Ass) tolerance.

So, any takers on a reduced price black bear hunt.

(The hunt is the last week of May and I'll have exact dates as soon as I can find the scrap of paper I wrote then down on.)

Re: Bear Hunt in Alberta

Dave,

How about the weight?

Also, since it's a Spring hunt, will they let you keep the meat? I've often heard that Canadian guides will not let you keep the meat from a Spring hunt.

Let me know.

Re: Bear Hunt in Alberta

I'm waiting for a call from the fella in Alberta to confirm dates and costs.

Last Spring I got a 5 1/2 ft sow and a 5 ft blonde colored bear, my partner got a boar that was over 6ft and a 5 1/2 foot sow also.

The outfitter said we screwed up and should have gotten much larger bears, but we were up there to have a good time and it was my first bear hunt so I was very pleased with what I got. This year I'll be looking for larger bears.
