Bump for a great lightweight NICELY finished/blued (fine matte finish) hunting rifle, great for ANY game in North America and can do it at long range, in a caliber (7mm Rem Mag) you can buy at most any store in any small town. For those who don't know, COLT mfg. this when they bought Melvin Forbes Ultra Light Arms to my understanding, producing a light bolt rifle patterned after a Rem 700, and utilizing a Sako/Sako style extractor. Very smooth fit and finish, as well as bolt slide/operation.
Pics available to serious inquires via email sent to my PM. Thanks. |

Update, due to a PM I received, I called Colt mfg. just now re: these rifles, actually I have two CLR's, having thought of giving one to my son when he is bigger.
A recall was issued on the rifles with Serial numbers LR002800 and LOWER. Basically some guns failed to cock back the firing pin and/or might fire if the firing pin was not cocked, the pin resting on a primer, and the back of the cocking piece struck discharging a loaded rifle. I don't know if this is any different than any other bolt rifle i.e. a Rem 700 if the firing pin is resting on a cartridge, but none-the-less, that is what the recall was pertaining to, nothing more, nothing less. MY guns are in the 3000 and 5000 range respectively, so NEITHER gun I own is affected and are deemed safe by Colt. Basically, Colt BOUGHT/OWNED Ultra Light Arms and these rifles were built to specs as the ULA and utilize same scope rings the ULA rifles use. Anyone interested in buying this rifle, and first wanting to confirm what I said should call Colt directly if in doubt. COLT'S MANUFACTURING COMPANY LLC Customer Service Department P.O. Box 1868 Hartford, CT 06144-1868 U.S.A. Tel: 1-800-962-COLT Fax: (860) 244-1449 A recall in today's time re: firearms is never surprising due to the Frivolous litigation that is all to common in this world. Remington has been plagued w/them, many due to trigger issues with their 700 rifles. I wanted to alleviate ANY concern for any safety issues, as I would not intentionally sell a gun that I know has a safety concern. This info and COLT will verify, should put any concerns to rest. Thanks. |

Also last I knew Melvin Forbes of NULA was trying to buy all the spare parts from the colt mftr vendors for the colt light rifles so he would have them. Only three interchange with the ULA and NULA.
Good gun at a good price. BH |

Nice to know, but it seems the only thing most bolts ever need might be a firing pin spring and/or extractor.
This gun has the Sako extractor as made by Colt, and I never heard of them failing. I BELIEVE they also take any trigger designed for Rem 700's if that is of interest to anyone, but would suggest anyone verify that to be sure. I think at this price point they offer a hunter a great shooting rifle at a very good value, with a finish HEADS AND SHOULDERS above what I have seen Rem put on their Matte finish rifles. This gun has a very fine matte blue finish. |

update
Ok guys, update, have one guy who wants to buy one now, and another guy who says he will buy it when he gets moved.
I DID have a second like gun, same cal. and condition that I was considering giving to my 11 year old, years down the road but that is a ways off and I have a target/varmint rifle project coming up. I expect to have the gun sold either way, but could be persuaded to sell the second one I was going to keep. Looking closely at BOTH guns, the only difference is that ONE gun has a 3.25 lb trigger, and the other 3.5 lb. Other than that they are identical in every aspect. There is a bluing spot I noticed on BOTH rifles I have, about 6" from end of forearm, on top side of bbl where they rested on a gun rack, the bluing is perhaps 65-80% there, some wore off. Spots are about 3/8" wide, and only 1/8" or so vertical - along axis of bore. Anyone wanting one, let me know but I have two firm offers pending....finalizing one and awaiting word on the other. Any questions or picture request hit me a PM. Thanks. As a side note, a NULA rifle in this cal. I believe is $3,100 per website: http://www.newultralight.com/HTML/custom-rifles.html |
