What do you know about Lone Wolf Stocks?
Howdy Fellas,
I recently fell into a Ruger M77 mkII in 7mm rem mag. It shows signs of some use but seems to be in decent shape. I haven't fired it yet but the guy I got it from (my dad) has taken a couple elk with it and says it shoots pretty well. I have very little experence w/ruger and even less with the 7mm. I'm deciding wether or not to sell/trade it or use it for a build platform, since it was the old mans, I'd like to keep it. He says it kicks like an angry mule (no recoil pad at all) and that's why he gave it to me. I figured I'd first pick up a new trigger and stock. The stock is my real question. I've tried Manners and HS and was pleased with both, but I recently learned that Lone Wolf Stocks is only 15 minutes from my house. I'd like to keep my $$ in the local economy, but not at the expence of getting an over priced or junky stock. I didn't have much luck searching the sight for Lone Wolf. Is this because they're not that good, or is it that they are a smaller unknown company? Also, who makes the best trigger? I plan on doing it myself, so less complicated is best. Or should I just put it in the safe and smile when I see it?
Thanx
Cody

The Lone Wolf stocks are very good. You can go and see him, and his stuff. His shop is on the right at the beginning of N Hilltop on the right.
I do not think the Ruger is the best platform to build on. Difficult to get accessories for the action.
If it shoots well like it is you might just look at installing a recoil pad and use it.
Good luck,
Steve

I think you're right. I'd love a Lone Wolfstock, but it kinda seems like a $20 saddle on a $2 horse.

Where is Lone Wolf located? I see you are from Montana and the only Hilltop Street I am aware of is in Billings. I am not familiar with Lone Wolf and need a stock for a Savage build.

Re: What do you know about Lone Wolf Stocks?
Lone Wolf is at 125 N.Hilltop Rd in Columbia Falls. It's very easy to find. I'd never been there until today, drove right to it... only to find that they're closed for the holidays. I talked to some local guys this afternoon and got to take a look at one of their hunter stocks. It was VERY nice, so much so that I doubt I'll ever buy another Manners or HS again, even though I really like both. Plus their bedding service is top notch.

Lone Wolf stocks are as good as anyones, period!! But what sets them apart is their bedding process which is done with the same material that the stock is made out of. 100% perfect fit.
