Weaver classic variable scopes (6-24)??????

I'm looking to buy a scope and I'm torn between 4 different scopes. From what I have heard so far the Weaver is just as good as the Burris Signature and Nikon Monarch, both $150 more. The Bushnell 4200 is around the same price as the Weaver. How do these two cheaper scopes compare to the two more expensive scopes? Any feedback espicially on the Weaver would be greatly helpful.

I can help you out a little. I have a weaver 6-24 and a burris 8-32. They both have about the same adjustment, and repeatability is good, but I would say the burris is clearer, but not by much.

I have two weaver v series.
The T series and the Grand Slam have the micro-trac feature but the v series do not.

I have not used mine enough to know if they will track well or not, but folks say they do.

One thing to consider, what type click adjustments do you want?

I have Leupold and Weaver and others and the Weaver is great mechanically and is good glass.I would buy another one without reservation.

The V series represents a good value but they do not have the same coatings and, as mentioned, lack the MicroTrac system which is extremely important for long range use.

I use Weaver T series, old and new style, and my long range scope is a Weaver Tactical 4.5x14. This scope is a modified version of the T series offering variable power and a first plane mildot reticle.

In the comparisons you mentioned, I think you would have to consider the Weaver Grandslam series as the contender, not the Classic V series.

I have a Weaver T36 and a couple Burris 8-32 variables. Sig and BD. While at 100 yards the Weaver is clearly superior, and just as clear, at 1000 yards I am wondering if it will even stay on my gun. The difference in my 2 scopes is night and day. The black diamond is powers of 10 clearer. I can read the numbers on the target at 1000 with my BD, and I have a hard time making out the edges of the black in the Weaver. This may be because they are used far more in the short range benchrest (100/200 ppc stuff) but for whatever reason, I'd not use my Signature at 100 and would prefer not to use the Weaver at 1K. My thoughts were that a straight power scope would be far clearer than a variable, not in this case.

PS, looking at either while not on a gun and on a bench, either one looks very nice. Put them on a bench side by side and then look at the differences.
