I have a McMillan Lazzeroni thumbhole stock on a 6.5x284 long range rifle and I think it's about as perfect as a hunting stock gets for me.

I have an MPI thumbhole and really like it. All my other rifles (longrange or not) are getting thumbholes now.

Building this one right now to shoot in competition but have used the AI stocks for years and love them the one in the pic is a AI rifle in 338.

a thumbhole stock is in my opinion the most comfortable stock out there... but i also like the vertical grips too. so i guess it all comes down to personal preference
