Need advice on Rem 700 PS

I have the opportunity to buy a near new Remington 700 ps (police special?) in .300 Ultra Mag for under $500.00. I've never had one of these and need some advice.

I currently shoot a custom .300 Ultra Mag for my long range work, so I'm not looking to surpass the accuracy of my current gun, but don't want to pass up a good deal.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: Need advice on Rem 700 PS

jrusso,
If it were me, I would buy the rifle for no other reason than it's a good deal. Even though you already have a .300 RUM, you could part the Remington out and save the action for a project down the road. I would imagine some board member would purchase the barrel, stock or trigger if you decided to part with those items.
Better to have a spare than to be without a shooting iron. Johnny K.
