Not a bad looking rifle!I am getting 1/3 MOA with 103g A8700 and 200g Accubond this is a warm load in my rifle I'd start lower and work up if you try...

Re: My new long range rig...nothing too fancy...w/pics

thanks!

I just took it out for the first time this weekend. I can't believe how clear the NF is. All my other scopes are leupolds, and the NF focuses sooooo clear, it was a pleasure to shoot.

I'm still trying to find a load that shoots good, and trying to figure out what I can expect from a factory rig. Haven't found anything that shoots yet, but still looking.

I have h-1000 and retumbo, and 178 A-max, 200AB, and 220 SMK, and havn't got any to shoot yet. Just getting going on load development though. I'm shooting Fed brass, and am seating bullets as long as the magazine allows.

How far do you guys test loads at? 100, 200, 300? and can I get decent results from 100?

I can't wait to find my load and start practicing on some long range stuff.

What I have found to be the easiest method for me with all my different calibers is to work up the very best load at 100 with less than 10FPS extreme spread on the velocity. Next move out to 400 and see how the load works once the bullets are asleep. So far the 400 yard shooting has confirmed what I learned at 100. Most of mine shoot between .75" and 1.25" at 400 yards and I am good with that level of accuracy.

I test loads at distances I intend on shooting, have been real lucky in getting rifles to shoot well...

Re: My new long range rig...nothing too fancy...w/pics

I need to order a chrono now, been looking, but don't want to drop the money for an Ohler (sp?). Trying to decide which one to get.

do you guys play with powder charges and bullets first and then start expermenting with seating depth? There are so many variables....where do you start? Don't want to shoot 1/4 of my barrel out on load development, or is that normal?

should i buy other powders? RL25? I didn't want to get something that was temp sensitive, but what do you guys think?

thanks, jon

The Pact 1 xp goes for about $130. and works well. I generally try seating depth first, and have had great results with A8700,IMR7828,H1000,R25.

Re: My new long range rig...nothing too fancy...w/pics

been reading about the shooting chrony's and i definatly want to stay away from them! If I'm going to spend the time setting up and shooting throuhg the chrony, then I want it to be accurate. is the pact chrono a lot better than the other not so good ones? I found a couple on ebay, but wanted to check before I tried to win them...

what increments are you moving seating depth at a time? and do you just start you min length where the reloading books says to start?

thanks, jon
