Re: Huskemaw optics

I would like to post a couple websites that can get you more information about the Huskemaw Optics LR scope.

www.gunwerks.com shows scopes, articles, and our Long Range Shooting Systems

www.thebestofthewest.net info about our TV Show, Products, etc.

www.huskemawoptics.com links to botw site

All of these sites are pretty new, and we will be making lots of changes and updates this year as we have time. Please check back often.

Re: Huskemaw optics

Please read my post again. I would not hesitate to compare this optic to those of high repute. I do not claim that our scope is superior. S&B, etc. are amazing optics, Nightforce makes very well engineered and robust products. Their adjustments are geared for military apps. Those guys over there have made some awesome designs. Check out their adjustable turret stop system.

Our scopes are built for a specific purpose. We only use one revolution of our elevation turret. With Berger VLD's most of our cartridges get 1000 yards of drop compensation with 20 MOA. We really don't push shooting at ranges past 1000 yards. There are too many ballistic phenomena that are difficult to compensate for in such a simple system. I know many of the visitors to this forum know how to and have the ability to shoot well past 1000 yards, but our products have been designed to allow experts and beginners both to be proficient enough to take ethical shots in hunting situations where the targets are under 1000 yards.

I have heard a lot of feedback about illuminated reticles. We may choose to offer one in the future. If your state allows illuminated reticles for hunting I would like to hear from you.

By the way, where are Nightforce NXS scopes manufactured?

The internals are manufactured in Japan and assembled here in the USA (Idaho).

My Name is Aaron Davidson. <xx> The optical design is new from the finest manufacturer of sporting optics in JAPAN, and is the most expensive design we could build. I will put this scope against any other manufacture for optical excellence and rugged repeatable adjustments. In fact, last week at the SHOT Show, we had many reps from the big optics companies examine our product--everyone was impressed with the quality of the product, and surprised at out low MSRP.

This scope has only been in the hands of a few people. No scopes have been delivered to ANY consumers. Our first run of product that is available for purchase will be delivered in March 2007. Among the few who have seen or used the scope, Walt Berger has thoroughly tested and evaluated the scope. His evaluation was basically that the optical quality was much better than necessary and the scope tracts as good or better than any he has used.

Any person giving our product a negative evaluation without actually seeing and using the scope, really needs to contact us to see how they can get our product--for the money you cannot buy better glass! We are at the FNAWS show in Salt Lake, UT for any who are in the area and would like to actually see our product.

I can be reached through email at skip@gunwerks.com. Or call me at our office at 307.762.3508.

I am committed to creating the ultimate LR hunting scope. If anyone has real input or feedback we are interested. Otherwise, call us to get the real facts.

Thanks,

Good evening Aaron.

What concerns me is this comment... "His evaluation was basically that the optical quality was much better than necessary.

I have a research firm and of some of the things I do, I am a consultant in optics.

I have done work for Leupold, Premier Reticles, and others, and this comment leaves a LOT of wiggle room.

For example, the optical quality of a $90 BSA scope is "much better than necessary" to shoot a bull elk at 1000 yds, after all a bull elk is about 4 moa in body height... and that's pretty big (optically speaking).

But the optical quality of the $90 BSA is, well, trash.

A middle quality scope in today's market should resolve a MINIMUM of 1.5 arc seconds or better at 20x.

Whatcha got Aaron???

Re: Huskemaw optics

Come on guys. Let's give the man the benefit of the doubt. He may have something here. Now I'm not going to run out and buy one b/c it just doesn't look like it is for me.

SkipD,
Is the scope made to work w/a certain rifle/caliber/bullet combo? I assure you I'll need more than one revolution to get to 1000 yds w/the 338 edge I have coming.

As long as the user knows the limits of his system then it may work. Is it for everyone? Probably not. It's not for me, but I'm not going to flame you for it.

Good luck on your endeavour skipD. I look forward to hearing more from you as your optics become more widely used and field tested.

Re: Huskemaw optics

I agree with Bill. We should give the guy a welcome and a fair chance.

As an engineer, I read what was written and saw what was and was not said. There is room for a good BDC scope on the market.

I say the same thing I said about Wildcat Bullets. Anybody who tries to build a better longrange shooting product should be helped and assisted.

Time will tell how good the scope is and time will tell whether any issues are resolved.

I see your scope is rather ROBUST too... only 7 oz lighter than NXS and 1" shorter... And how are they geared towards Militay apps anymore than your scope ?

Both LR, both adjustable turrets, both 30 MM, both side focus..... not quite following your logic ???

Seems like your scope has a lot of those great traits the NXS does, like maybe you modeled yours after it, a guy could say.....

Hope it does perform as good as you claim... competition is a good thing !

PS. could you please post a REAL picture of the scope and not a computer generated image like on your website.

Thanks and good luck in your venture.
