Help finding A muzzle Brake for a smaller Barrel

I need some help guys. I purchased a 7.82 Warbird on the Sako TRGS action and I want to add a muzzle brake. Here's the problem....most all muzzle brakes that I am considering are for barrels that start at .675 and up. The Sako barrel taper has it down to .619 at the muzzle and I really don't want to shorten the barrel any. Does anyone know of a brake that would fit a taper that small and still offer good reduction in recoil?
Thanks, Sig

When putting on a brake, most smiths will purchase the break in the correct interior diameter for the caliber. Second, they will cut 1/4 inch off the barrel, thread the end and then re-crown. Lastly, they will turn the break on a lathe to make it meet up perfectly with the barrel.

Atleast that's how it's been explained to me by a few different smiths.

Your smith would have to turn the barrel tenon down to 1/2 x 28 thread leaving a .059 shoulder to seat the brake against. the tenon threads should be fit to the brake tightly to assist the barrel tenon.

There are lots of brakes for the ARs in this thread pitch available. Or bushing adapters that will let you use a 5/8 x 24 TPI.

There is no real reason to cut the barrel if it shoots good. you can even leave the original crown.
It is normal to re-crown but not a must.

Hope this helps.

The most common MB I've seen used for your situation is Holland's QD ...

Holland's Gunsmithing & Shooters Supply

I have Savage 111F in .300 Win Mag with the above MB. IIRC, mine has a .590" at the muzzle. The felt recoil is comparable to that of a .243.

Good luck!

This should work. This is the Mini Magnum Muscle Brake, formerly from Center Shot Rifles.

Web Store

Note different threads for thin barrels (former website of product - http://www.centershotrifles.com/prod...zle_brakes.php). The current website makes no mention of the different threads so you better call to confirm the the design hasn't changed. That's the actual rifle with a Holland QD MB.
