H&R Slug gun
I just bought a single shot 20 gauge slug gun for my 8 year old. Here in Illinois only shotgun slugs or muzzleloaders are legal. While he is quite proficient with the muzzleloader, I wanted him to have the option of a quicker reload for late season doe hunts. It is not uncommon to shoot a couple does at a time over food plots where we hunt.
I went looking for a rifled cantilever scope mount barrel for his 11-87 youth shotgun. I discovered that it was most likely going to cost around $300 and a couple weeks to get one! However, for $219 I could buy a brand new H&R slug gun in 20 gauge. I did.
This gun shoots amazingly well for the price (well, any price!). I shot a 3 shot group at 100 yards that were all touching! I did not have my camera as I really didn't expect anything photo worthy on this range trip. This was using 7/8 ounce Lightfield slugs, by the way.
A buddy's family has 5 of these guns, all with similar results.
It is a great bargain if you have to hunt with slugs. They even come with scope base, sling, and hammer spur.
