good bolt on bipod

Looking for som recommendations on a good easy bolt on bipod. I don't need one that extends really far, probably 6-9" or 6-12" would be good enough.

I use the Caldwell brand pivoting bipod with a bipod lock attached. The pivot feature means youo can easily match the slope of the terrain. The bipod lock means you can lock in the bipod in order to keep the rifle level. That is critical to long range accuracy.

I've used the caldwell pivoting bipods and they aren't bad. That said a harris is built better for sure. You'll really notice less flex in the harris when you load the pod. They also have the price tag that goes with it. If you can afford the harris go for it. If not the caldwell will work. As Len said the pod locks are awesome and well worth the price.

Either Caldwell or Harris. Buy the Harris if you can afford it, if not, get the Caldwell. Which ever one you buy, get the canting model with the leg notches (save yourself some headaches the first time); and get a pod-lock (they make them for both). Len has the bipod locks available here, or Alpha-Bravo has a couple of different versions on MidwayUSA. Make sure the bipod lock is for the brand bipod you buy though.

    Good luck.
