Gaiters for fall hunting

Does anyone use gaiters for fall hunting in conjunction with low top shoes.
Due to a medical issue I am converting from hard core back-pack hunting where I used stoudt hiking boots (vasque, and others).
My situation is that I have tried light weight mid hikers and ended up not using the top two or three lace hooks. I also stalk hunt and now find myself noisy as my feet are numb (neuropathy) and not sensetive to touch, so some steps are heavy.
In an attempt to continue I'm thinking of using lightweight low top hikers (just bought a very comfortable pair of North Face that have a great foot-bed with a semi ridgid sole. I want to avoid continually stopping to pull stickers, rocks and twigs from my shoes, so, I'm considering gaiters.
Is anyone aware of gaiters for this use? I'm thinking something fairly light and not hot. I don't need snow or rain proof, but a membrane type (goretex) would be o.k. in a fix. Probably most important would be a sort of silent fabric.
I'm considering sewing up some of my own design if I cannot find something soon.

I haven't had to buy any for awhile, but a quick check of Cabelas online got 3 different hits. If you're an old guy like me prepare for a little sticker shock. Used to have them at Army Surplus outfits.
I'm sorry to hear about your feet, I have a slight deficit in mine. Keeping warm is my challenge, wool socks in the summer etc.. I liked the backpack, and still hunting myself, backpack is mostly out, but being a little slower can improve your still hunting. I hope you can keep at it.

I'd go this route. Everything nowadays is made for the masses.

You know your particular needs.

My experience says to start with very inexpensive materials, that is, confirm 'she' is ready to trash those pillow cases that happen to be handy, as a start.

Try a place that sells cross-country skiis. I use my gaiters when I XC ski though I've used them once or twice for hunting. Most, however, are made of nylon or similar so I'm not sure that there is a "quiet" version.

My son uses a low boot and gaiters. I quizzed him about it and his response was that it's a lot lighter. He has a good gaiter that straps under the boot. He backpack hunts and says it's the smartest thing equipment wise he has ever done to save energy. I don't know if he bought the gaiters or had them made but they are trick.

Re: Gaiters for fall hunting

i run the danner lightwieght hikers and gators all winter long. been in snow up over my knees and never had a problem. averaging about 20 days a month from dec-march stomping around. cabelas gaiters, worn out the zipper on one pair, quiet and dry, not sure how warm they would be in the early fall without snow? But they are great with the light weight boots
