Electronic Powder dispense/scale combos

I am looking for advice on the latest powder dispenser/scale combos. I have used the older style RCBS unit that needed calibration and was looking at the newer unit but wanted opinions on the lyman unit sold at Cabelas.

I have noticed in the past that some scales were built and relabled for the manufacturer.

Thanks in advance,
Ken

Re: Electronic Powder dispense/scale combos

I have newest RCBS model that I got about 6 months ago. I have checked it for accuracy several times against my old RCBS balance beam scales and digital scale. It is right on every time.

I enjoy my loading time much more as the automatic scale/dispense takes the tedium out of trickling powder to get my charges just right. I punch the "dispense" button, then turn to my press and seat a bullet. Just about the time I finish that.......the next powder charge is ready. I find it saves me a lot of time. Don't know why I waited so long to buy one!

My RCBS has a bad problem with retaining calibration and we have traced it to the pan part of the time. go to a metal pan instead of the plastic.

A little static problem?

I have the Lyman and have no complaints. I think it is a little slower than the RCBS, but works great just the same.

Re: Electronic Powder dispense/scale combos

I have Lymans digital scale/dispenser, and although I understand it's a bit slower then the RCBS one, mine has at least worked perfectly since I got it a year ago. I don't use it to lots tons of "bulk" ammo due to the relativly low speed (I use a Redding BR3 for that), but rather for hunting ammo where I am extra picky with weighing/dispensing each charge.
