Defensive Edge Built 338 Laupa

Shawn Carlock built a 338 Laupa for me with a 30" ABS Carbon Wraped barrel. The rifle was built around the 325 grain Wildcat rebated boat tail as an extreme range rifle. It is built on a Rem 700 action and housed in a Sendero stock topped with a Nightforce 5.5X22X50 scope. Shawn shot the rifle today with the first load that he ever put together with the 325 grain Wildcat bullet and shot a .8" three shot group at 300 yards.... That's .255 MOA without working a load for the rifle..... To say that I am pleased is an understatement... We are still waiting on the Detachable box magazine that will allow a 3.9" loaded lenght, when it arrives and is installed he will ship it to me ..........Can't wait.........

Pictures......gotta have pictures. That's the rule.

Congratulations on your new gun. That's not too shabby a group. Looks like Shawn has given you a pretty good starting point. Now let's see if you can make it do better.

I will ask shawn to take some pictures and post.... The ABS Carbon wrapped barrel is a Mike Rock .I ordered a 9 twist, but when the barrel came it was marked as a 10 twist. ABS would have replaced it,but I decided to give it a try as sent..ABS also offered to replace it if it didn't work correctly after instalation...Shawn is going to check the actual twist before shooting some of the Aluminum tipped Wildcats.............

Sounds like a darn nice gun. I also excited to see that ABS is finally getting some barrels out, that should help out a few peoples days.

Here is JWP's rifle. It is a 338 LM with the ABS barrel and weights 11.6 lbs. I hope to test some of Richards 300 gr Aluminum tipped 338 bullets this week. I will post on the results.
