Best Propellant???
I just picked up another reloading press and all of the accessories. The problem is that I haven't reloaded in 25 years, and a lot has changed. I am asking for your expertise regarding "What is the best performing powder on the market today?" I will be reloading for:
22-250 Remington
25-06 Browning Safari
257 Roberts
264 Win Mag
300 Win Mag
45-70 Govt. Thanks for your help!

Re: Best Propellant???
I can't say for all of the cartridges listed but I have gotten good to incredible accuracy in the .22-250 using Varget, IMR 4895, IMR 3031 and H414. In the .25-06 I have used IMR 4350, IMR 4831, IMR 4064, XMR 3100 (Accurate Arms), RL19 and RL22. For the .257 Roberts, I used IMR 4064 and 100gr NBT's. This was for a shooting buddy so I didn't experiment much. Found him an accurate deer load and ran with that. In the .300 WMag that I used to own I used both the IMR and Hodgdon version's of 4350 and 4831, IMR 7828, RL19 & 22. I got rid of it (regretfully) before RL25 hit the streets but will try it if I get another .300. Hope this helps. Good luck and safe shooting. Johnny K.

Re: Best Propellant???
These are only a few options but will get you into the right ballpark. Get a copy of Nosler #5 or the new Lee manual for complete data.
22-250 Varget,
25-06 H4831SC, H1000
257Roberts H4350 or H4831SC
264Win mag Retumbo, H50BMG, H870 (if you can find)
300Win mag H4831SC up to Retumbo
45-70 H322, Benchmark, H4895, Varget.
So much depends on the type of bullet, bullet weight and application but these are good powders to use for most applications.

Re: Best Propellant???
I like Hodgdon, and Alliant powders best.
RL15, RL19, RL22, and RL25
Retumbo, H1000, H4831, H4350 , H4895 and Varget
Varget, H4831SC and Retumbo would be the first three I'd try.
I believe they had H1000, H4831, H4350 and Retumbo in the new load development package deal, 1-4oz jug of each type, which might be worth a try if you don't already have it all on the shelf just yet.
