BountyHunter and other's,
I have also tried just about every gun cleaning product ,some are better than other's but a friend of mine told me about
a new product and I have used it exclusively
for the last couple of month's, it absolutely
kick's butt on every other cleaner on the market, I know many of you are saying RIIIIght just like I did but if you try it
you will be pleasantly surprised. it is
called Hunter's Extreme Copper Melt and is
made in Canada. it is different to use than
most cleaners and hard to find since they
wont answer there phone but well worth the
trouble to find
Alliant Techsystems have a new foaming bore cleaner which comes in a pressure pack with a tube that fits into the chamber . It's called Gunslick Foaming Bore Cleaner . Sounds convenient and apparently works . Has no Ammonia or "harsh chemicals". I'm going to try it .
Something that is readily available that works very well is Janitorial grade Ammonia cleaner. Not the sudsy stuff you find in the grocery store. This stuff is very concentrated.
Just look up janitorial suppliers in the yellow pages. A gallon jug cost me $14 Cdn and will last several lifetimes.
On a patch, it will dissolve copper that other cleaners leave behind. This stuff is not to be left overnight. Swab it in, swab it out. Cleans my rough pitted military barrels in a few minutes. I also use nylon Kleen bore brushes to speed things a long. Forget about brass or any metal bristle brush. Now you see it, now you don't.
You better use this stuff outside. I use a powder solvent first then finish up with the ammonia. Never tried mixing the two to form a all in one cleaner. I just do the steps separately and it seems to work very well.
This method also does not disturb the moly in the barrel too much. Settles down quickly without having to use preps.
I have used Spooge for years, since I worked at Answer Prioducts as head smith.
While there, we refined it twice.
Now running my own shop I use it, and sell it.
It is the best stuff I have tried, although I have not tried that montana stuff, since Spooge works so well I need nothing else. it cuts carbon and copper very fast.
The name is going to be changed soon as an employee of Answer bought the company.
I think it is going to be called Sam's stuff or mix or something of that nature.
The muzzle brakes they make are better quality and easier to work with than before. Great brakes too! Very, very efficient.
