Re: 277 Allen Mag w/ 195 WC ULD RBBT

Mike,

Thanks for the reply.

That is my plan. I have a bunch of 169.5's I want to see if I can trade out for 195's. I would rather not switch back and forth.

When I had this gun as the 270AM there wasn't the 869 available. So I have 16# minus what I have shot of it.

Any chance to get some pics of the 195 next to the 169s and/or some 150 gr NBTs or the like?

Mike/TX

I shot one round of the 169 WC w/100 gr US 869 for 3396. Kirby says that should be considered a max load. So that will be my max load w/the 169.

W/869 the case is not nearly full which is good for my next experiment.

Can I expect to achieve 3100 w/the 195s and 869? I'd be plenty satisfied w/3000 and an accurate load. @ that velocity it out does my 338 RUM w/any bullet @ 1K energy wise and without the rainbow traj.

SHaggarty,

This week end I have a family thinger in Island Park. The next week is the deer hunt/shoot. Gimme a call @ 681-0911. If the ground dries up and the spuds start getting dug again I'll be around someplace..

Roy, there is no way we can stuff 100grs. of H-869 behind the 169.5's down here 165 feet above sea level. Hell I got 94gr. of 869 pushing the 169.5's a legit 3400fps with no signs of preasure but backed it back down to 92.5gr and getting 3280-3300fps. which shoots .123 at 100yds.

The 195's I have stoked with 94gr. of 872 clocking 3250-3300fps with no preasure and cut a .075 group.

I have both bullets loaded with 10k jump and she shoots great. Mike's rifle likes 15k jump better.

Mike and I shot both the 169.5 and the 195 at jugs of water at 500yds last weekend and both pills worked great.

Good luck with your rig. Tim

Yep, I have some bucks spotted. My son and I go to this 'certain' place where it is pretty much like a canned hunt.

We sleep on top then hoof it about 250 yds over to Point B and set up the matts, spotters and range finder. Its quite fun. This will be our first dedicated LRH season. Here are some pics. We shoot from Point B. One guy watches south the other watches north. Then the other fella spots for the one who sees the first 'shooter'. Which is anything w/horns and aways away (unless it's got BIG horns then a 50 yd shot will be taken

You might want to stay indoors and behind sandbags. Wyoming is awash in blood and there are gut piles everywhere and now I am headed back to Idaho. Bullets will be flying every which direction at anything that moves once I get there.

That's a little faster than I think I need to go. I'm @ 4500 to 5500 feet for all hunting except elk. The air's pretty thin compared to your neck of the woods.

Thanks for the input.

Man, I can't think for the life of me, why you would want to sell that thing.??? Your's appears the same as mine, 'cept mine has a black stock and is a single shot.

sewwhat89,

I got you a pic up in another thread, figured that it might be easier to combine the info there.
