1600crf

Just bought a 1600crf and I'm having trouble getting a consitant range out it. round home houses, street signs etc it works well but hen I take into work with me and start ranging sheep, cattle, slips and tress and other things you would encounter in the bush the best I get is less that 500yards the weather conditions arnt shorts and jandals but it's not raining or snowing either. Anyone else had a problem with there's?

On a side note my leupold rx 4 will do 600-700 pretty consitantly.

Thanks
Lucas

Re: 1600crf

I have a 1200CRF and the hardest part of using it, for me, is holding it steady (which is me, not the rangefinder). Otherwise, I get good returns from brush, trees, plowed/harvested fields, etc. when I range landmarks for distance references.

I understand the 1600CRF incorporates ballistics calculations, so there's most likely "more to it" in the workings of your rangefinder than mine, but even my older Leica LRF ranged reliably to 1000+ yards.

Re: 1600crf

Yeah it's odd up to 5/600 it's really good 5/600 to 900 it plays up 1000/1200 really good and constant and past its hit and miss till 1400 but then it'll range 17/1800

I'll work I think a lot of it is the type of day I'm going to make a tri pod for it see if it'll help

Yes, get it rock steady and try things on a cloudy day. If you still aren't satisfied, write a quality letter and send it back to Leica. They replaced mine no questions asked, the 2nd one is much better.
