whats the best magazine on western/rocky mountain Big Game Hunting?

I just canceled my subscription to Rifleshooter (boring [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif[/img]) and would like to replace it with a magazine that specializes in stories and articles on western/rocky mountain big game hunting/outdoors .--Have any suggestions?

thats eze by far eastmans hunting journal and bow hunting journal. i get both that way i get one ever month. take a look it's great

NONE.

They are all watered down and very rarely ever even say what bullet or load was used. They pretty much shy away from any of the scientific stuff related to guns and just go for rack porn. Every story is the same blah blah blah. SOmeone needs to come out with a long range hunting magazine with content that goes a little <font color="blue"> deeper </font> and a little <font color="red"> farther! </font>

Don't get me wrong, I love to see full curls and huge racks, but come on people! How many times do we have to hear the same old story. "I shot my buck at 150 yards with my 06 and some kind of bullet and some kind of scope and wow am I happy".

Hey, I think I just had a great idea! Any investors out there?!

Personaly I enjoy Eastmans, Hunting Illustared, Trophy Hunter and Western Hunter.

the magazine is called experience...

you have to realize these mag writers only put in what you want to hear. They are pursuaded by advertisers and contributors.

The only one I read anymore is Outdoor life, mostly because my neighbor is the Hunting Editor and I don't have to buy the magazine, simply because if I had to buy it I wouldn't.

The best place to learn about hunting in the west is just do it and the boards like this...

I will say the Mr. Zumbo is do in a TV whow on just such a thing. The way it really is hunting in the west. Not all the fluff you read about. It is 99% work and 1% picture taking after the kill. His wife told me that it is always something he wanted to do was show the way it really is.

Eastmans has A LOT of good pictures but I only flip through it to see where some of the big boys are being killed... the rest is just fluff and advertising like any other...

NONE that is a bit harsh, for the most part I agree with you but there is an exception. No they dont tell you the load and the bullet used and almost every story ends with wow am I happy (everything you dislike). but with that said they tell you how to go about applying for a hunt in a western state, an opinion or eight on what units to apply for and help on finding a guide or an outfitter if you choose. in my opinion a resource like none other. there is a down side this magazine is everything goodgrouper hates, it costs $100 a year and is absolutely geared toward the HIGHROLLER hunter. but even a lowroller such as myself can gain more than $100 worth of knowledge a year from this magazine the Huntin'Fool. check it out online huntinfool.com
