Video of Riflescope Flexing???

Is this suppose to be like this or is there something wrong with this setup?

Thats nuts but it has to be the design or maybe not......

Everything flexes like this, but the bullet is long gone. The important thing is does all return to the first position. You want to see something more amazing, watch high speed frames of a bow shooter. Everything looks like its made of rubber. Hard to believe we can ever hit anything.

Yes to both questions.

Scopes do flex during recoil.

And yes there is something wrong with this setup.

Notice how much of the scope is hanging out in front of the
front scope ring?

I allways try to set the rings as far apart as possible to MINIMIZE
this phenomenon .

The longer and heaver a scope is the worse this problem is ,Also the bigger
the objective lense (Heaver) the more it happens,A 30mm tube helps but does
not eleminate flex.

This flexing can also lead to scope failure if not held to a minimum.

Long rails or offset rings can help to minimize this problem.

I once saw a highspeed film of a lightweight barrel during firing and realized
why they call them buggywhips.
