Re: Scope shimming?
I thought about buying a taller set but I only need a couple thousands for clearance. This rifle is a Knight muzzleloader, which uses an already tall set of Weaver bases. This makes the scope ride high, even with low rings. I am installing a 3.5-10X50 VX3, and want to keep the scope as low as possible, too high is uncomfortable. So I thought that since the rings come with friction tape, to install on the bottom half of the rings, that a piece of electric tapeover the friction tape, would give me just what I need for scope clearance, and it did. I am just curious if anyone has ever done this, and if it would hold up.
I have noticed that some ring manufacturers send tape with thier rings(Millet).
