Questions regarding USPS insurance claims

Hi guys. Hope I can get some help and/or advice...

I am participating in a transaction where I am buying a 260ai barrel from a friend out of state. I sent him the money in a Priority Mail box cash inside(I KNOW, STUPID) instead of a US Postal Money order. Inside the box was also some Nosler bullets in their box that was part of the cash + trade for the barrel. Well, I got Delivery Confirmation AND insured the package for $300. Tonight I went to the USPS website and tracked the package. The site is showing that the package was DELIVERED this past Friday to another city & state!

So, here's my question. It looks like I have an insurance claim. Will the Post Office insure my full $300 amount? I have no way to prove how much cash I put in the envelope along with the bullets. Does this even matter since I insured for $300 and the package is now lost?

Please help/advise. I KNOW that I should have used a postal money order but now I'm in damage control mode. Should I be ok & get my full $300 in insurance or am I going to have to prove that was I shipped was $300?

Thanks

Well first off you'll have to wait the 45 days (I think that's what it is) before you file a claim.

As far as the cash, I'm betting your out of luck.

I lost a package I had shipped at the end of December and it took a month and a half to get where it should have gotten in 3 days.

Have faith it will show up.

I have had to make a few claims with the USPS and their are a royal pain in the a$$ to deal with , anytime I ship a package I insure it for 50% over REPLACEMENT cost , so if I sell you a barrel for $200 and it cost $300 to get a new one I insure that package for $450. They have always given me some sort of BS about the replacement cost but it always comes down to what I insured it for and they took my money to insure it.

For all they know those bullet were first run Nosler partions that old John first made , their work WAY more than $300

They insured you package for $300 and you paid for that service assuming that your package would get their safe and sound , it diden't and its because of the miss handeling on their part so its up to them to pay up. stick to and stay on their butts about it , you have to hound those people like they owe you millions or you will be forgotten and lost as your package was , I promise that if you owned them $25 they would be calling you everyday and sending you to collections , return the favor
