1) She hasn't been subpoena'd yet.
2) It is her right to NOT talk to someone, isn't it?
3) It sounds like YOU have already tried and convicted her. Unless you have first hand knowledge of the events? I thought everyone (including State Governors) are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law (at least down here in the lower 48 states).
4) Even if she did say she would be open and talk to the investigators, I'd say her situation has changed; And now there are more people and issues riding on that kind of decision than before she became a VP candidate. (wouldn't you agree?)
AJ
1) She welcomed the investigation "because she had nothing to hide" 5 weeks ago. Now she claims the investigation is illegal.
2) She wanted to clear the air 5 weeks ago, consistent with the open, transparent, government she campaigned on and promoted. Now she doesn't want to talk about it. But when she has talked about the reason's for the firing, she's changed the reasoning three different times.
3) Was Nixon convicted in a court of law? Was Clinton convicted in a court of law? Do you presume them innocent? Doesn't work that way with Politicians very often. Presumptions aren't illegal -they work both ways. Agreed that a presumption isn't a conviction, but the evidence is damning and she's not able to provide any acceptable plausible explanation. Her husband has already admitted to several conversations with the Commissioner that was fired, and with such strong family values, wouldn't you think that Sarah and her husbund talk about such family matters. The hand writing is plastered all over the wall. But like I said in my prior post, ignore it if that makes you feel better. Ignorance can be bliss when it interfers with the agenda.
4) If there was an explanation to excuse her executive decision that was less damaging than the decision was an act of retribution then wouldn't that explanation be as effective today as it would have been when she said she welcomed the investigation 5 weeks ago because the investigation would clear the air. Answer: Yes, it would be effective, at least more effective than lawyering up. But there has to be an explanation less damaging than I got rid of him to get back at my ex-brother-in-law over a personal family fued.
On the other hand, there's some "clear thinkers" here that admire the decision even if was an admitted abuse of power. And there's some that think she'd be a twerp if she didn't abuse her elected authority to settle a three-year old matter on behalf of her sister or other family members.
When it comes to politics, there's many that won't let the facts get in the way of their end goal and desires - in this case obviously a Republican win. You guys must think you're going to ensure or at least enable the republican party success by dissing anyone that hints of a problem. I told you. I'm voting McCain. Doesn't mean I have to stick my head in the sand and remain in a state of denial on matters like this "troopergate" which I think speaks a lot about the person of Sarah, and proved to be a real disappointment to me (but not to clear thinkers).
Sarah could very well be a good VP. Maybe even a good President if she were to serve a term as VP. I would not vote for her for President in spite of my republican preferences at this time. She has no national or world level experience. Nothing to even compare to Obama in the way of covering national affairs. Alaska's not even a dot on the map compared to the level of competency required of some 48 state City Mayors. I'll vote for McCain and hope he stays healthy for 4 years. If he wins, then Sarah will gain the experience she now lacks about national and world affairs/issues. Then maybe she'd be up to speed for a promotion if that was ever needed.
Well fill us in on the three different reasons she has given for the firing. I have only heard one, that came out of her mouth in an interview on Fox News.
Hard for me to believe that you are a conservative in any way, when you can sing the praises of Obamma's experience, and say that Palin has none. Obamma has lead nothing that I am aware of. Palin has leadership experience at the local, and state level. Maybe if she spoke French and cared more about what the rest of the world thinks about the USA, she'd be more qualified to make executive decisions?
I did not compare her to Regan, I only stated that she is the 1st politician that has any excitement for me since Regan. Like Regan, she does have the ability to make a stand on what she thinks is right. That is, I think, what is energizing about her.
Sorry that the "twerp" statement got to you. My emphasis was actually on the "spineless" part. If you are going to campaign for Obamma, do it openly, not with the smoke and mirrors.

To hunt... or not to hunt...? What a stupid question.
Wooten threatened to kill Sarah Palin's father, tasered his 11 year old step son, poached a moose on Sarah's sisters tag, and drank beer while driving on duty.
He sounds like a model law enforcement officer to me. I'm now with Phorwath on this one and can truly see why he objects to this type of "behavior from an elected official." She should really be ashamed for abusing her power by trying to get this guy fired. If Palin was a Democrat, Wooten would have been promoted for his actions.

For a period of days there was just silence on the matter. Then the explanations started rather weakly. Then more forcefully after the leaked phone recorded conversation of her top aide pressuring a Trooper supervisor to fire the ex-brother-in-law. I won't spend a lot of time researching and regurgitating the details. Did you go to the link I provides earlier? That clip provided a pretty close account of the history of the reasons given. Research it yourself if you've really got the interest. But would it really matter anyhow? You're conservative cast in concrete. I don't care if I meet your approval with my level of political conservatism or not. Don't care if you believe I'm liberal or conservative. I've got no interest in swaying you from your political affiliations. I've told it the way it's come down from my perspective. It's on our Alaska news nightly. The reason for her firing her Commissioner tonight was presented by a McCain/Palin campaign spokeswoman rather than Sarah. Now the McCain campaign speaks for her. The latest reason given tonight was the guy was fired because he went to the State Capital to lobby for additional funds for his Department, supposedly against the desires of the Governor, however the news team found showed a travel authorization for the travel which was signed by Palin's chief of staff. Believe what you want. Sarah's position on this incident could have been so much improved if she'd simply had a good reason for the firing and explained herself at the time she let the guy go. Only she & her close staff / family could say why she didn't. But the rest of us are left guessing.
Oh yeah, if you're interested in details, Sarah's husband failed to appear to testify today under legislative subpoena in front of the State legislative board that authorized the "troopergate" investigation. Sarah's Attorney General has advised all of the people that received subpoena's to ignore them and not testify. I don't know about you, but this sounds like a complete cluster to me. Who's in charge? Sarah? McCain campaign? The executive and legislative branches of Alaska government are failing to function and where's Sarah?
No, Sarah's not getting my vote. I'm voting for McCain. I'll compromise to the point of tolerating Sarah taggin along as a VP if McCain can win the election. Earlier this week I listened to the results of a current pole; 6 out of 10 people poled had serious concern about her experience to become President should she need to fill that role. Sounds like I'm not alone.
Of course those were all spineless liberal commies running a tainted poll with the agenda to destroy America right? Like I said, would it really make any difference to you? I don't care if you decide to be friend, foe, or indifferent. You suspect I'm working for Obama and using smoke and mirrors. How many votes am I going to collect here on LRH? How many are you? You really think I joined this forum in 2005 so I could attack Sarah in 2008?
My turn to ask questions. How many of my posts on this forum concern hunting, reloading, guns, and shooting? How many concern Sarah and politics? You spend your time doing research and then report back. Maybe you'll have a news story that fits your agenda. Maybe you won't.

Didn't ask you to be with me. Don't need you with me. Don't particulary like you. Don't really think I want you. Hope that doesn't hurt your Republican feelings too much or make your Republican blood boil over.
You're research is incomplete. That or you left out the part where neither Sarah or her husband reported the poaching of the moose until after Sarah's sister spit with her ex. And that Sarah & husband Todd didn't have a problem eating some of that poached moose. I understand it ate just fine until after the family fireworks erupted. Then it would appear that poached moose meat soured to the bone. And it all went downhill from there.
Other than that, I say you want a vigilante in office that will use elected political power to persecute enemies of herself, her family, her friends, or her acquaintences on matters unrelated to government business? Then I'm pretty sure Sarah's your gal. I believe there are laws, policies, and procedures in place to handle bad troopers and I don't expect the Governor or the Vice President to abuse their power to get rid of a lowly rank and file employee in any State or Federal agency. Petty-anty, petty-anty, petty-anty. Did I say petty-anty? How about stupid. Don't want to forget stupid.
But like I said, if that's you're cup of tea then Sarah's the woman for you and I truely believe she'll do ya proud. I'm not sure how much run of the house she'll be allowed as VP, but she'll settle the score on any personal fueds, if she's just given the authority and opportunity.
And now the Alaska Legislative panel has confirmed it. Sarah puked all over Alaska law using her elected authority as the Governor of Alaska in order to settle a family fued. She doesn't have the foresight or the composure to separate "Working for the People" from "Working for Sarah". Couldn't stand it. She just had to have that sweet taste of revenge. When she couldn't get it any other way, she fires the Commissioner.
Best part about this whole Sarah cluster is that her ex-brother-in-law is still working for the troopers. She's such a screw-up; she'll never be able to get rid of him now unless she wants to pay him off in a settlement. Let's take bets! How many think Sarah will pursue her ex-brother-in-law to the point that he sues the State of Alaska and gets a huge settlement from the State. Sarah the cluster. Doing Alaskans proud.
McCain had to be an idiot to select her as a running mate. He got what he asked for, all that and more.
