Thought I'd share a couple of pictures of the newest project.

It's a 7mm SAUM
27" Douglass XX barrel from Sharp Shooters Supply
SSS recoil lug
SSS competition trigger set at 2 lbs.
SSS tactical bolt knob
Sits in a Boyds pepper laminate thumbhole stock bedded with devcon.

After all this time and effort I sure hope she shoots.
Pics didn't turn out the best but you can get the idea.

What kind of velocity are you getting out of that long tube?

I'm hopeing to get around 3000 fps with a 160 gr Accubond. But it might be a little while before I get to fire this one. Its the third project I've done in the last 18 mos.

I've been so wrapped up in building them I haven't been keeping up with the optics end of things. I've got a 243 with a Tasco on it and this one with no scope at all.

Time to start saving my pennies for a couple more Conquests.

Well I couldn't stand it any longer, I temporarily put an old Bushnell on this and headed for the range this morning.
Barrel break in went very well, 6-8 shots and copper fouling dropped right off. I shot 6 3 shot groups after break in with 2 different powders, Re-22 and H4831sc.

59.2 2840,2826,2886

58.7 2860,2880,2883

59.0 2884,2900,2912

Velocities were a little disapointing for a 27" barrel but the 59.5 grs. of 4831sc went into .716 and the 58.7 grs of Re-22 went into .252.

The top loads of both powders is the Nosler max load for a 160 gr bullet but neither one showed any pressure signs so I'll be trying for a little more velocity if I can get it.

Recoil was a little suprising I was expecting a just little more than my 6.5-284 but it's closer to my 300 WM. I'm pretty sure I'll be replacing the recoil pad for a little more comfort.
