Nanny state gone mad( Britain)

Hi guys,
I just wondered if any of you knew that it will soon be illegal for anyone under 18 to buy a hunting Knife, here in Britain
( the currentage is 16 ).This rediculous law concocted to combat rising knife crime is another nail in the coffin of common sense over political correctness and also bans such things as kitchen knives, cutlery including forks(but not spoons, that will come later),needles, pins knitting needles, chisels, screwdrivers and a host of other items which the government thinks could be used in a stabbing. .

If we did not have free speech(not quite) i'd have been taken away and shot by now, I would love to leave this country, but alas i am disabled and live on wellfare, so i'm stuffed. All i can do is make the best out of a bad situation and vent my frustations occaisionally

Centre Punch.

Re: Nanny state gone mad( Britain)

As they say "A beautiful country, but I wouldn't want to live there!". I enjoyed England on three visits but the response I got when it became known that I hunt was almost comical. I can imagine what Atilla the Hun would have felt like. Every one seemed to think that in America everyone had guns, shootings were common and that we had all kiled at least a couple of times. Thanks to our friends in Hollyweird.

You live in a beautiful country. Your countrymen (at least the Sheffield area) seemed very friendly. You have some great beer (Stone's, Boddington....) but the government is a bit on the shallow side when it comes to thinking things through.

You have my sympathy. Hopefully we will see the error of your ways and not follow, but I doubt that!

Hey Centre Punch,
At lest you can still shoot your air rifle right? I worked with a dude that was from Wales, but served in the RAF as a weapons specialist. He married an American and moved to the USA. When I showed him my small gun collection he was really surprised that we could own the type of weapons I had. The semiauto style miltary rifles really impressed him. The first two weapons he aquired were a S&W model 29 with a 8 3/8" barrel (too many dirty Harry movies?) and a imported Enfield MK IV (?) 303. He bought the enfield at the great western gun show in LA, CA. The big gun shows are probably something that can only be experienced in the USA.
Good luck in your escape from the UK.
