My Daugter's homework sent back, contained "WEAPONS"

My daugter Samantha had an assignment to cut out pictures of things that start with the first letter of her name. My wife tells her to have Daddy help, so Sam comes over with one of my hunting mags. I tell her to get one of Mom's magazines, she insist on my magazine. So knowing better I let her pick out pictures of things she finds that start with S. When we are all done we have a collage that contains the pictures of; One unarmed soldier, a vintage picture of a ww2 soldier holding a 03 sniper rifle, silver coins, a scope, a over under shotgun, and to top it off she picks the Kahr Arms add with the slogan SLIM IS SEXY. I told her she couldn't use that picture, well she insisted on having the girl pic, so I cut that picture down to exclude the text and the womans lower half.

Today she brings the work home and says she has to redue it. Low and behold the teacher left me a note saying "the silver coins and soldier are great, but exclude any picture containing weapons." Well I guess I expected as much.

The new collage contains pictures of Scoby-do, salad, a girl swimming, shrimp, and 2 bowls of soup with spoons in them. Her new assignment will have a note attatched that says.

" Mrs. Heinzen, I am sorry you did not approve of the content of the first assignment. The items were picked by Samantha, I tried to sway her towards using one of Mommys magazines but she insisted on one of mine. This leads me to wonder what my child is being exposed to in the public school system, that she would be led to pick pictures of men and women engaged in the patriotic act of protecting our Country, and practicing their right as bestowed to them by our founding fathers. I have marked out the soup spoons in the new assignment, as I could easily fashion these into "weapons". I would hate to have to help her with this assignment a third time."

Respectfully yours,
Jim See

Silly indeed, but it will get much worse than that soon.

Re: My Daugter's homework sent back, contained "WEAPONS"

This whole scenero is sad and scary. Several years ago the son of a friend used to clean my shop and learn about guns. I had a magazine article written by Jacob Gottfredson on the 338 Edge in Precision Shooting. I gave a copy to JR and it was a very treasured item to him. He took it ot school (Jr. High) to show some friends the article written about the guy he worked for. He was seriously deflated when the school siezed said magazine called his dad (a law enforcement officer whom I worked often with) to come and get it. He was told that this was a warning and futher violation of the schools "firearms" policy would result in disiplinary action with his son. The freedom of speach and press must not really mean much in the public school system today. I personely would much rather has my kids reading Hunting or Guns & Ammo than listening to rap music that promotes the use of drugs and shooting of police officers and anyone else who does not wear the right colors. Maybe they should have to take down their no weapons signs because they have the outline of a firearm on them. Or better yet maybe we should stop teaching US History because our kids might get the idea that some things like freedom are important and worth fighting for and we used firearms to do it. We would have to phase out the industrial revolution out since it was firearms manufacture and the idea of mass produced parts assembled in line fashion that spurred the whole thing on to begin with. Lewis & Clark would just be out of the question because not only did they protect themselves, but they shot and provided food to eat so they did not starve to death and we just can't have that now can we? This stupid crap really sets me off. I'd like to know exactly where school districts have the right to ban certain literary items at their discression that don't violate vulgarity laws. Hopefully someone will take them to tsk on this sooner than later.

Sadly this is the downward spiral the US is in , slowly heading to a "Socialist State" where we won't be allowed to think for ourselves. The current population of "Sheeple" in the world believe what they hear on CNN (Communist News Network) and the talking heads all over the media. Its all starts with the children who are slowly and steadly being tought what the Government wants to think is right and fair , that guns are bad and only used to kill innocent people ,not that our Second amendment has kept our country on the top of the food chain for a couple hundred years now. One of the only reasons that the US has never been invaded is that everybody knows that ALOT of the population is armed greatly increasing the "armed forces" that they would face.

Its a cycle that every socity goes through and sadly enough its gonna get worse before it gets better.

Jim , if it were me I'd have to see that "Weapons Policy" in black and white , I'm sure that it says somthing to the effect of the way that weapns are used in pictures. Do they let the military recruters come in the "skool" with their posters , I've never seen a Marine poster that diden't have a man and rifle on it

Re: My Daugter's homework sent back, contained "WEAPONS"

In recent months I have heard of similar situations with this happening in California and Iowa. Now Wisconsin. Now I expect this stuff to happen here in California and I am not looking forward to the day when my daughter, who asks to watch hunting shows with me, goes to school in this overly P.C. Liberal state. But to hear it is happening in the Midwest does not give me much hope where there is a lot more hunters than out here on the coast. We are totally F*&?ed if Obama gets into office. Get ready for the men to come looking for you firearms and for the federal gun laws to start becoming like the laws here in California.

The public school system in this country has been slipping to left for years and the note cowboy, you received from your daughterís teacher is the result of that. Most of my grandkids are in private schools which have been picked by their parents and are being taught the things that the family group approves of. I donít like the direction that the public school system in this country has taken. I think there is a subtle brain washing going on and most teachers today donít realize it because they have came through the system. If you tell a young child that a gun is a bad thing often enough and they learn nothing different at home itís going stick and thatís whatís going on and more.

Shawn Carlock is right when he stated itís sad and scary and I totally agree itís sad and scary!
