I don't need much, a conservative government and good hunting along with strong 2nd amendment support.

I would like to find some acreage with a modest house away from people. I can fix it up if it is livable.

I am looking at Idaho, Montana and Wyoming. But have no idea of what areas to look at that would meet my needs.

Thanks for your help.

Come East, you'll fit right in here in Idaho.

    NRA Lifer=no more ?

Mind telling me a little about this -just wondering.?.

    Central oregon that bad ?
I know from doing a lot of reseach there aren't many places left in this country that aren't ate up with pc liberals.
Bend ,Or. is one of them.
And huntin_fool is right -it is hard to find a place -especially on public land to get away from people .
I wait for it to cool down so i can hunt and not sweat and every weekend there are droves of orange vests everywhere you look. You have to be at least two hours away from boise to have a little space to yourself.
The sportsman channel says hunter numbers are dropping off -yeah right -they're dropping off because it's so crowded unless you hike into the back country.

Too many people is the problem..
    AIPAC for president !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Would you mind being a little more clear about what you think of Missoula? Your comment was a little vague.

To hunt... or not to hunt...? What a stupid question.

You can pretty much rule out CO. We just elected the biggest panty waste of a Senator you could find. Denver drives all the statewide elections around here. The rest of the state (with the exception of the Aspen/Vail, and the wierdos in BOulder ) is pretty good. I love driving up north west. When you roll into Encampment, there are giant signs all over that say "Welcome Hunters", and they mean it.

I like WY, but that wind in Cheyenne/Casper will drive you insane. You'll need at least 50 MOA of windage if you plan to shoot there. Farther north in WY, near the SD border is very nice.
If you like your hunting rifle, you can keep your hunting rifle.

I just bought 10 acres in Idaho just outside of St. Maries for the same reason you talk about. The only draw back is you have a sales tax and a income tax, but I can live with that. Eastern Oregon would be nice but Portland tells them what they can and can't do. It sucks to live in Oregon. Use to be a good state.
