How to increase length of pull?

How do I increase the length of pull on my HS Precision stock? I'm told that a gunsmith could do this for @ $120.00, but evetually I'd like to go to an A3, A4 or AICS and think the money would be better served there.

Is their a way to increase it about 1" myself? I'm not worried too much about resale of the stock, but I'd like to keep from damaging it too much. Thanks for any advice!

Brownells sells a 1" hard rubber spacer # 661-100-024 for $15.70. can be ground to fit.
