Re: How about a ELR forum???

Allot of folks know they shouldn't shoot past certain ranges and don't.
Allot of folks are ignorant and just do it anyway because they don't care.
And some of them do it anyway because they think they are more proficient then they are.

Long Range Hunting is popular in my area of hunting where we have our camp. Seems every Tom Dick and Harry think they can throw a gun and glasses in their SUV and go sling some lead. 1st day I had a group guys hunting just below us. They shot a deer and wounded it and to say I heard them shoot 30 more shots at that deer to dispatch it is an understatement.

These are the folks that the sport can do without.

Re: How about a ELR forum???

Hey Guys, I had a pretty indepth conversation with Len this morning about the posibility of a designated ELR forum section. And also the posibility of me helping moderate.

Len is talking with Dick and then we will all talk again. We have concerns about how to properly moderate to keep the post quality and portray the image of LRH.

I want this to be a good imformative thing that is simply another option to the long range hunter. It can be used to sharpen skills on targets that will translate into better skills for hunting at lesser distances. Or it can be used for hunting to the point of where the projectile or conditions are limiting.

But, we just don't want this to turn into a lead slinging thing at game or a place that breads arguments or conflict.

So, might take a while to refine, but at this time we are looking into the possibility.

I will keep ya all posted as we move forward. If you have suggestions, positive input or questions please add them here. They will be read and considered.

Thanks
Jeff

Re: How about a ELR forum???

Jeff,

Thanks a ton!

When it happens I'll not abuse it.

My desire/goal is to shoot a mile often enough to be able to increase the odds @ 1200 or so. I need an explanation for my unexplainable misses.

That is what I do. But with the recent development of good accurate bullets and RF's my success rate has really improved.

Fun stuff

Jeff

Re: How about a ELR forum???

If Len agrees then here are some of my favorite threads of extreme range shooting.
They could be moved into the new section as examples of what the section is all about.

6467 yards worth of a Varmint Hunters Grand Slam!!!

2,051 yard chuck pics

Bull elk @1302 yards....

Doe Day with the Cheytac

gotta send my APS rifle back

1350 Yard PA Buck Video

2.9 Miles of Deer with 338 Edges

You might check with Kevin and Shawn for video clips.

Here is another good one except the pictures are gone.

Deer and Elk Hunt
