That is really wonderful. I take it that this was a howitzer of some type. Funny about the horses getting startled and the men having to set up the gun.

    Outstanding stuff. It's amazing what history is out there in our own family & friends. Sadly we often find out only after they are gone.

    Thanks for your comments; as you can imagine, Iím still very excited by the Ďfindí. Iíve been reading through a box full of my Grandfatherís stuff since my initial post Ėit includes his medals (which Iíve never seen before!) and other interesting family history stuff.

    The guns would have been 18 pounders:
