Getting a rifle home

I have a rifle on the road with me, that I want to get home. I fly home every other weekend . I have only sent rifles by UPS. My question is would you guys ...?
1) Mail USPS?
2)Send UPS?
3) Should I just take the rifle on the plane when I fly next week?
USPS is close to my location, UPS is across town. Thanks

Re: Getting a rifle home

Yes, you can ship it back and forth to yourself. Here is a link and a clip for BATF.

ATF Online - Firearms FAQs

(B9) May a nonlicensee ship firearms interstate for his or her use in hunting or other lawful activity? [Back]
Yes. A person may ship a firearm to himself or herself in care of another person in the State where he or she intends to hunt or engage in any other lawful activity. The package should be addressed to the owner. Persons other than the owner should not open the package and take possession of the firearm.
