Did I say fruitcakes? Some of these people ain't got a clue. They quote democracy and then want to restrict rights. Some of them can't even read their own written statement. The fat blonde with her glasses falling off her nose was particularly humorous.

The goofiest was the lawyer. He had not been paying his rent and had been served an eviction notice but not pay attention to it. The police came as usual in such cases and demanded that he leave the house. They asked if there were any firearms and of course he had an unregistered semiautomatic 22 pistol. Which the fool told them about. They dragged his ass off to jail and charged him with felony possession of a pistol and a machine gun (DC defines a semiauto as a machine . He went to court and plea bargained and got 1 year probation. But he did not file to have his record sealed before the expiration date so he now has a felony record open to the public.

He was asked about which pistols might be dangerous and he said " a pistol that is capable of firing a shotgun shell would make you disappear if you were shot with it at this range". Based upon his testimony they will probably ban the 41 caliber handguns.

Here we have a guy who is a lawyer but can't even avoid a two felony counts of firearms violation and he is testifying as a pistol expert.

The clue as to his IQ was that in a town where the highest paid people are the BS artists and he can't make enough money to pay rent.

What a circus! You are retired now, right? Perhaps it's time to look west for more than a vacation. Good luck! I hope things work out for you and the rest of the good folks there.

What's really funny is that the DC Council members seem to believe that if they disagree with a Supreme Court ruling, they don't have to comply with it. Based on their discussions, they're going to go out of their way to impose all possible roadblocks to the legal ownership of guns in the District.

Council member Mendelson, who's the driving force behind this, is the same guy who removed manditory gun possession sentences from a recent District crime bill, claiming “I don’t believe minimum-sentencing laws are effective.”
He's also removed proposals to keep violent criminals in jail while awaiting trial. Apparently he trusts the criminals, but not the law-abiding.
