Sorry but it may be wasted effort. Right now north western North Dakota looks like swisss cheese from all the holes the drill rigs have put in, started about 3 years ago and every year more rigs are set up. I have coyote hunted in 4 counties every year for the last 6 years and the amount of activity is remarkable. I've seen the same in Wyoming. A friend who sells drill equipment in ND says the white coats predict there is an 80 year supply for the entire country under ND.

Maning all the drill rigs is expensive, building new rigs and pumps is expensive, a newbie on a drill rig starts at $25 an hour. Independent welders are making upwards of $100 an hour on maintenance and rig erections. Support salesmen who service the rigs with drill bits and other fittings, make a killing.

All this expense is passed on to the consumer, You are the ones paying for all the drilling, equipment, testing and manpower. It isn't like drilling a water well, one well may take over two months just to drill. With a sortage of manpower, how are they ever going to drill more holes faster without increasing expenses which will be passed on at the pump.

The national news recently had a report that said last month consumer consumption of gasoline was down 5% for the month. Did gas prices drop? No they went up.

Drill all the wells you want, It's not a short term solution, and a marginal long term solution. The oil Co have increasing expenses, but mostly just enjoy taking joe public for a ride.

Why don't they drill just once and do it in the right place? Vast reserves of US oil are in KNOWN locations and could probably supply 100% of the US oil needs for the next 100 years. Long before the oil is exhausted we "should" have this energy crisis well behind us.

At the rate we're going now the mid-eastern, oil exporting countries will have purchased so much American real estate (with our money) that we'll all be saluting their flag right here in the states.

OPEC could raise the price of crude to $500 a barrel and Americans would still resist drilling in Alaska and off the Pacific coast, refining oil domestically, building wind mills where they had to see them or going nuclear until we had a better solution at hand. This country will never wake up.

We have lot's of oil in this country and for some reason we're not getting it. It is alleged that recently there was a huge oil reserve discovered just off the North Slope of Alaska. Possibly the largest oil feild in the world and it is supposidly being kept secret. Check out the link below, I think you will find it very interesting. I don't know for sure how true it is but it is very beleivable.

The cost of gas now would make exploration and drilling way more than profitable.

Supply and demand is not controlling the oil and gas market prices. If what is said in the above link is true, there are other influences at work, and even beside uncertanty and speculation have a huge affect on what we pay for gas not to mention greedy manipulation of comodity prices.

Check out the price of gas in some other oil producing countries, way lower than us and we likely have way more oil.

There are already numerous capped wells, especially on the North Slope that can be reopened. The shortest straw in the equation is the lack of refineries. That would take a while to fix, but the longer we wait the more our short term will turn to long term.

If the price of gas continues to rise the way it has been, this country will be in serious trouble very soon. I have a small construction business and I've had to lay off my crew and am working solo now. I may be out of work all together the way things are slowing down and Bozeman MT was one of the fastest growing areas in the nation 2 years ago. It has almost completely stopped now. Just a little piece meal work here and there.

One more thing to check out (link below) China is exploring for oil just off the coast of Florida and plans to slant drill into US Oil reserves. I for one find that a little irratating. And if they find it profitable to do so, what about us? JMO

While I agree that we should drill, IMO we should only pump oil when the prices spike.

IMO, Drill in ANWAR, drill off of Florida, drill of of California.
Pay for the oil companies to build the pipelines, and then CAP THE WELLS!

If the price spikes over 100, then this will be our strategic reserve and it will drive down prices. What I want is that when the World is out of oil, the USA has the last reserves.
DRAIN the Arab oilfields and let them kill themselves over sand dunes, I don't care.

BUT, to do that WE, the AMERICANS, need to build refineries to liquify and gasify coal, and build nuclear reactors on an unprecedented scale! It is silly to use petroleum for transportation.

Energy, specifically fossil fuels are so huge that it is hard to comprehend how much is used!

How much oil do we use? MORE than 1,000 barrels of oil EVERY SECOND!
A large coal fired powder plant uses 300 train cars of coal every day, 25 tons per minute!

Coal Burning, Fossil Fuels, Pollution - National Geographic

While I think that "Green" cars are good, and cutting fuel consumption is good, the BIG picture is HUGE!

A few Windmills spinning in the desert may provide some energy, but lets get REAL on what is really needed.....NUCLEAR, AND in a big way.

That was certainly peculiar video. But when the nation elects a leader who does not have the leadership skills to lead the nation then where can the citizens turn except to Congress.

Yes, gas IS pumped back down! It is the gas pressure that pushes most of the oil to the surface!

When the oil is almost depleted, then you harvest the residual gas. There are just gas fields, but they are either depleted oil fields of just gas well that were trapped millions of years ago. Coal is basically oil with all of the light hydrocarbons removed...they became gas fields or dispersed into the atmosphere.

Some of the CO2 from ethanol production does the same as well as steam injection.
