collector prices sky rocket

so the apraiser just left and i have to have my wife pick my jaw off the ground. can anyone explain or tell me why the prices on alot of the old wins, mausers sharps, o3 a3s. basicly all the old weapons went up in price so much. some jumped so high i just cant believe what the guy had to say. my last apraisal was in 2005. one example are the smith corona A3-O3 30 06 jumped to over 3000 dollars oh and it has never been fired. oh and he left me a offer on some my collection for what he had appraised them at.so does anyone have any ideas.

My guesses are that the value is not going up completely at that rate but it is a combination of scarcity/rareness which is not going to get better and the fact that the FEDS continue to devalue the dollar by printing so much fiat currency.

That and I believe as has been the case in the past, collectables such as rare classic cars and firearms are a way to protect wealth much the same way one would buy precious metals. But due to political and economic climate there has been a huge rush to gold and maybe we are seeing it in the collectible markets albeit later in the slinky cycle.

Just a couple of guesses.

yea didn't want to sell my insurance agent had ask me to have it done because she had this happen with a client and could not pay total replacement on the claim because of the increase in value of the guys collection. our gun insurance is on each value not replacement at time of incident. i just thought it was interesting things had inceased so much.
