Can anyone ID this "bleeding" rock?

While scouting in the Black Hills I walked up on this "bleeding" rock. There were several other white rocks like this in the area but none like this. The liquid at the bottom of the crevasse is water from the morning rain. Has anyone ever seen anything like this?

Send that picture over to the Geology Dept. at SD Tech right there in Rapid City and I'll bet you get a response. Better yet - just stop by there sometime and I'm sure you'll get a response that goes back a couple thousand years.

I can tell you were the rock came from but I don't know about the bleeding issue.

My guess is the rock contains an extreamly high content of Iron. What you are seeing is the oxidization of the iron (Rust)
