For what you want to use it for I think you would be happy with the 260 Remington.
Low recoil, good barrel life, based on the 308 case(A very accurate cartridge) has won many
600 and 1000 yard matches since it's arrival on the scene, factory ammo and brass availability
are good.
There are lots of good 6.5s and this is just one of them.
