what barrel ??

Hello there folks , hope all is well. I have a ruger m77 .243 tang saftey made 1978. Shoots very accurate using 95 gr. Sst hornady. I been wondering on hart barrels in ny, what's there reputation. ??? I am looking for a 1.25 heavy contour 28" ss barrel twist 1-8.. To shoot my reloads which are berger 105 hunting match vld imr 4831 41.3 gr. Bullet not seated into case. COAL of 2.955.. That's what am shooting currently. Would hart be able to set up my rifle ?? Remove & replace

Hart makes a darned good barrel, I use them as my "go to' supplier for blanks. As for your chambering requirements, you'd have to ask them.

Rock Creek makes some really nice barrels, too.

I checked rock creek and they look like they want out of business . I won't be taking any chances. I want a reputation with an achieved gunsmith. I ll look around for a bit but tending towards old fashion hart

A very reputable builder out of GA is my friend's brother. He's also a former Army sniper, and still teaches at the Army Sniper School @ Ft Benning. Just a few months back he was recommending Mike's (Rock Creek) barrels... Not saying they are not out of business, b/c this economy can get anyone, but it would have had to have been a recent closing. He also said that Rock Creeks are the only barrels he'll put on any of his rifles, unless you pay for another brand up front, then he will order you whatever you want.

I'll check with him to see if they still are in business, b/c this has now piqued my curiosity.

You might need to look a little harder they are not out of business. It depends on what you are looking for the best or good enough. Go look on www.bugholes.com and there you will find the best bbl makers.
