What 6.5 to chamber in?

Hey guys,

Just got a hold of a 23" bull barrel in 6.5 that is un-chambered. It is not all that long a barrel, so I was wondering what you all thought would be a good cartridge for it and still utilize the available powder? Will be used for long range rocks, steel, and pd's.

Thanks, Steve

with that short of barrel, i would go 260 rem or 6.5X47 Lupa. I think you could achive the velocity and accuracy you are wanting.

I agree with the above. Only drawback to 6.5x47 is small primer/hole. Use CCI 450s if you go that route.

OK. I was thinking 260 Rem. as well. Any other thoughts are certainly welcome.

Thanks, Steve

I lurk at a couple other boards and posed this question on another just yesterday. Was pointed to some interesting over at 6mmbr.com on the 6.5/7mm-08AI. Thinking I have found my magical new 6.5.

I posted here about a month ago on this cartridge as well. I was directed to an article about a round called the 6.5 Mystic. I think it would be an ideal 6.5 round. I am not sure if the 23" of barrel that I am now dealing with will be enough to take advantage of the round.
