Re: Voodoo Juice or Real Life Benefits???

I seriously considered "Gun Juice" on a new rifle once. One of the major things that stopped me was that with all the excellent builders and shooters that send thousands of rounds down range a year why haven't I heard from any of these types. If this product did half what it claimed I would think there would be a line of builders/shooters that endorsed it. Kinda like ZMAX. Why don't we see Robert Yates Racing Engines or the like endorsing ZMAX.

Maybe it does everything it claims and I'm missing out by not using it but I keep hearing my grandfathers voice in the back of my head saying "if it sounds to good to be true, chances are, it is".

That is a very, very good question and one that I have asked as well. I have read a handful of positive reports from actual users on this site, including one testimony with pics from a smith in Canada that hasn't poste here since. You have probably read this thread...

anything between the 338 Edge and the 338 AM?

Either this guy is telling the truth or he is making up some elaborate stories.

I figure it's worth a try. I doubt it could hurt my bore, and if it did, it's a factory anyway which would give me an excuse for a custom tube

I'll report back in about 3 or 4 years after I have a couple thousand rounds down my 300 RUM

Re: Voodoo Juice or Real Life Benefits???

For anyone who is interested, I emailed Long Ranger and asked him what his current shot count is on his barrel that is discussed in the linked thread that Montana gave above.

He took the time to reply and I am likely goingto try this if I choose a barrel burner for my next rifle.....his reply:

Hi Aldon
As`of last saturday 1867 rounds and still shoots sub 1/2 moa
Cheers

Re: Voodoo Juice or Real Life Benefits???

Aldon, thanks for the info. I will be breaking in a used Sendero 25-06 with it today or tomorrow. It's going through Wipeout treatments last night and today. As soon as it is clean... off to the range

Re: Voodoo Juice or Real Life Benefits???

Montana,

I recently picked up a older Sendero 25-06 and it looks liek it has not been fired more than a box of shells or so through it. I took it to the range and accuracy was not nearly as good as suspected and as it heated up, the shot placement walked horizontally to the left quite a bit with each shot.

I took the stock off looking for anything that might affect accuracy and only a couple of minor things light a spot where the stock was making light contact and the owner previous must have slammed the bolt forward on a cartridge as there was some copper wedged into the bolt. I had not noticed it before. I doubt that these two things will help.

I am taking it to the range again with some loads I am working up to see if it has imprroved. If not, then I will probably have to bed the action.

I noticed elsewhere you had suggested skim bedding an Sendero action. What product would you suggest using?

In the end, I think I may have to have the action trued and throw on a aftermarket barrel.

Either way, I can not afford custom work every year so this gun juice stuff looks like it will make the return on investment worth it.

Doubly so if I can get the accuracy where I want it without aftermarket barrel

I will utilize it and then save my money for a new custom rig for a reach out and touch it caliber....

Re: Voodoo Juice or Real Life Benefits???

Aldon,

Sorry to hear the rifle is shooting to expectations. I know the feeling. This Sendero however, is shooting better than expectations. Took it out yesterday and set up a target about 110 yds away. The previous owner said it had about 200 rounds through it. I didn't bother cleaning it, just took it out to put 5 rounds through it. The first was a sighter after which I dialed the "Tasco" that came on it up 3 MOA, then shot a 4 shot group standing/leaning on my porable bench because I forgot my chair, with bi-pod and manually supporting rear stock. Not the most stable situation in the world. The tasco was a bit burry also. So there was a slight bit of movement while firing. Never-the-less, the first three shots measured .24" and the fourth took it to .45" The first sighter shot, when compensated for adjustment easily fell within the group and this is with factory ammo that came with it. I'm very happy and think this may be a .1-.2 rifle

I mentioned skim bedding might help to improve a poor shooting rifle based on others reports - never have done it myself and wont likely try to fix a rifle that isn't broke. But with a rifle that isn't shooting up to par, I would do it. There are a lot of products, I would probably go with Devcon.

The two issues you mentioned, could very well be the problem. Hope you get it figured out. Like I said, I know the grief of having a not good shooting rifle.

Best,

-MR
