Vihtavuori powders in 300 RUM

Have folks been collecting data on the 300 RUM using Vihtavuori N170, 24N41, or 20N29? Specifically, I'm looking for data with these powders and the 200g Accubond. Just curious if anyone has played around with them. Thanks.

I would try something a little faster with that round. Those powders were made for the .50 BMG and 20mm Vulcan. According to the VV manual N165 and N170 would be a little better.

N170 and 24N41 should be good to try, I just haven't got around to it but planned on those too. 20N29 just might be to slow, who knows though.

I've never seen anyone post on here, or elsewhere that has tried 24N41 yet, usually I hear about N165 and faster stuff and that's about it.

Hmmm...N170 and 24N41 was what I was thinking to for the 200g and up. I can get the N170 locally, but have been having difficulty tracking down 24N41. My understanding is the N170 is temp insensitive, but does anyone know about 24N41? Or, is it like H870 in warmer temps?

Looking at the 300 Lapua data, N170 is 7gr faster than 24N41, and 24N41 is 11gr faster than 20N29.

Speeds for the 200gr 3.661 OAL:

N170 - 3025
24N41 - 3064
20N29 - 3133

Speeds for 220gr 3.661 OAL:

24N41 - 2894
20N29 - 2992

It sounds like any of them would be a good choice.

24N41 and 20N29 - Grain size is 2.3mm x 1.3mm, single base surface treated, like the N100 series powders. I doubt it's temp sensitive either.

Yeah, I've seen that data, and if you look at the VV data for the 30-378 Wby, it is exactly the same as for the 300 Lapua Magnum. Is this a misprint? I find it hard to believe that those two cartridges could have exactly the same numbers for powder amounts, bullet weights and velocities across the board. They even mention different length barrels and twist rates...so I do not have a high degree of confidence in the numbers because I'm not sure which gun they are for.

at least in the latest manual the 300 LM and 30-378 data are not the same. They even list different powders for 200 grain bullets, for example.

I have used both N 165 and N560 in 338 LM, N560 gives lower pressure at a given velocity. I would try N560 in 300 RUM although I have no first hand experience on N560 temperature sensitivity yet. But it shouldn´t be bad.
