Velocity variations

Anybody have experience/comments concerning velocity deviations caused by specific brand or type of bullets? Seem to be having such an occurrance with Hornady VMAX bullets in .22 and .25 caliber. Other brands, or other types of Hornadys okay, but VMAX's(with same charge/primer) producing up to 300fps spreads in K-Hornet and Roberts. This has happened with several different primer brands and powders.
